Frequently asked questions

How much does an official translation or an apostille cost?

The price depends on the document type, page count, languages, prior steps and urgency. Send us the document through the form or by email and we reply with a detailed, no-obligation quote.

What is an official translation in Colombia?

A translation signed and sealed by an official translator and interpreter accredited in Colombia. It is the one accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notaries, universities, courts and other public bodies.

Do I apostille or translate first?

Usually the original document is apostilled first and then everything is translated, including the apostille. Some countries also require the translation to be apostilled. We tell you the correct order for your destination.

What if the destination country does not accept the apostille?

Then consular legalization is needed: a chain of stamps that ends at that country's embassy or consulate. We handle the whole chain.

Can I do everything without being in Colombia?

Yes. We work from scanned documents when the receiving body allows it, handle in-person steps on your behalf with a power of attorney and ship the result to any country.

Which cities do you cover?

We serve the whole country. We have dedicated pages for Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla, Cartagena and other cities, and we collect and deliver documents by courier.

Are my documents protected?

Yes. We handle your data confidentially and in line with Colombian data protection law (Ley 1581 de 2012). Only the team assigned to your case can access your documents.

Which languages do you work with?

We translate between Spanish and English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Russian, Hebrew, Polish, Swedish and other languages on request.

What is the difference between an official and a simple translation?

An official translation carries the signature, seal and certification of an accredited translator, and is the one accepted by public agencies, notaries, universities and consulates. A simple translation is for information only.

Which documents can be apostilled?

Public documents: those issued by public agencies, notaries and courts, and private documents whose signature has been recognized before a notary.

Which countries require consular legalization?

Countries that are not party to the Apostille Convention, such as the United Arab Emirates or Qatar, among others. We confirm the current requirement for your country and document type.

How do I grant a power of attorney from abroad for use in Colombia?

You can sign it at a Colombian consulate, or before a local notary and then apostille it. If it is in another language it must be officially translated. We prepare the text so you only need to sign.

Can you request documents for me if I live abroad?

Yes. Depending on the document, a simple authorization or a power of attorney is needed. We tell you which before we start.

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally one week. For simultaneous interpreting with equipment, a little more. Ask us about urgent requests too.
